The Rival Score is not a scientific measurement. It summarises the public signals StayRival observes — rates, offer, reviews, online presence and demand indicators — and your position relative to your competitive set. It moves as your market moves.

How the score is built

No black box: the same public signals you could check by hand, read every day on every property in your set.

01

What goes in

Published rates and public availability, packages and direct-booking benefits, ratings and review themes, the state of your Google and OTA listings, and the demand signals around your dates. Each dimension is scored on its own before anything is combined.

02

How it is compared

A score only means something next to your set: the average, the leader and your rank travel with it. A 61 is not bad in the absolute — it is eighth of twelve, and that is what tells you where to act.

03

What it is not

It is not a scientific measurement and it does not predict your revenue. It summarises what is publicly observable on a given day, moves when your market moves, and says so rather than claiming a precision it does not have.

PAST · PRESENT · FUTURE

Where you were, where you are, where the market is heading.

StayRival keeps the history of your position, compares it with your set today, and reads the public signals for the dates ahead.

RECOMMENDATION

Consider raising your rate by $15–20 for that Saturday, and keep your last rooms for the direct channel.

CONFIDENCE

Medium — to be confirmed against your own occupancy and pickup.

RIVAL SCORE · QUESTIONS

About the score.

Can I see a competitor's score?

You see your own score and your rank in your set, plus the set's average and best score. Individual competitor scores are not published: the point is your position, not a public league table.

Why did my score move when I changed nothing?

Because it is relative. If three competitors refresh their listings or cut weekend rates, your score moves even though nothing changed on your side. The Weekly Brief tells you which of the two happened.

Is 74 a good score?

On its own, nobody can say — and a tool that answers that with a number alone is selling you something. What matters is your rank, the gap to the average, and the direction over the last thirty days.
